Galvanized After Welding — Why Our Welds Don't Rust

Every BarrierBoss panel is Class 3 heavy galvanized — 150 gsm of zinc, the heaviest standard wire galvanizing class — applied AFTER welding, then sealed in our heavy-duty dip-coat. Welds are the natural weak point of any welded panel: typical competitor panels are welded from pre-galvanized wire, which burns the zinc off every wire intersection and leaves hundreds of bare-steel points hiding under a thin dip-coated. That's where they rust first. Our zinc goes on after the welds are made, so the entire panel — welds included — carries full protection. What makes BarrierBoss hog wire heavier than big-box panels?
The welded mesh is 6-gauge (4.9 mm) wire — noticeably thicker than the 8–10-gauge panels sold at most home centers. It is dip-coated steel, not powder-coated, so the coating bonds into the welds where rust normally starts.

What colors and mesh sizes are available?
Dip-coated finishes in black, brown, silver, green and Corten, plus marine-grade 316 stainless for coastal builds. Mesh openings come in 2"×2" and 4"×4". Panels are sold framed (ready to mount) or unframed (loose infill for your own frame).

Framed or unframed hog wire — which do I need?
Unframed panels are the lowest-cost infill when you are building your own wood or metal frame. Framed panels arrive in a welded steel frame ready to hang between posts. Both use the same 6-gauge dip-coated mesh and the 40-year steel warranty.

How fast do hog wire panels ship?
We deliver on our own trucks and unload on your property — no freight broker, no depot, no LTL terminal. In our Standard regions (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba) unframed panels travel Loose Truck (C$49, about 2–4 weeks) and framed ones Crane Truck (C$149, about 2–4 weeks); checkout shows which applies, and both are free over C$2,500. In our Extended regions delivery is priced by distance and order total, there is no free tier, and both Loose Truck and Crane Truck run, in about 4–6 weeks. C$500 order minimum. Is hog wire fence good for dogs, livestock or deck railing?
Yes — the rigid 6-gauge welded grid holds its shape against animals and impact without sagging like field fence. The same panels are used for dog runs, garden and livestock enclosures, and in code-height sizes as modern deck-railing infill.

Attractive product, but...

The hog wire panels are well made and highly attractive, and I'm glad that I held out and waited for them. That being said, the turnaround was terrible. I placed my order on April 28th and it was early September before the order was shipped. Lots of excuses as to why it was taking so long to fulfil the order, including in July when I was told that they were unable to provide the posts that I had ordered (though they were still selling them on the website). I was refunded the purchase price of the posts, but it still took another 2 months to ship my order. For most people, there are probably better options available.

Minimum order requirement B.S.

So, I call the company to place my order with them and am told I have to order a minimum number of wire panels to get my order. The minimum is about 50 times the number I need for my project. Unreal!

Here's the reality behind our order minimums: we manufacture every panel in-house and deliver them ourselves on our
own trucks — no third-party carriers, no freight brokers. From our facility in the Pacific Northwest to Georgia,
that's a 2,500+ mile delivery with our crew unloading at your door.

The minimum order thresholds exist because the cost of running a dedicated truck cross-country is the same whether
we're delivering 5 panels or 500. At lower quantities, the freight cost per panel would exceed the cost of the panel
itself — making the order uneconomical for both of us.

That said, we do offer a Third Party Freight (LTL) option for smaller orders that don't meet our in-house delivery
minimums. It ships via commercial carrier and would require a forklift or loading dock on your end, but it opens up
