What makes BarrierBoss hog wire heavier than big-box panels?
The welded mesh is 6-gauge (4.9 mm) wire — noticeably thicker than the 8–10-gauge panels sold at most home centers. It is dip-coated steel, not powder-coated, so the coating bonds into the welds where rust normally starts.

What colors and mesh sizes are available?
Dip-coated finishes in black, brown, silver, green and Corten, plus marine-grade 316 stainless for coastal builds. Mesh openings come in 2"×2" and 4"×4". Panels are sold framed (ready to mount) or unframed (loose infill for your own frame).

Framed or unframed hog wire — which do I need?
Unframed panels are the lowest-cost infill when you are building your own wood or metal frame. Framed panels arrive in a welded steel frame ready to hang between posts. Both use the same 6-gauge dip-coated mesh and the 40-year steel warranty.

How fast do hog wire panels ship?
Unframed / loose panels ship on our Residential Loose Truck Delivery lane, about 2–4 weeks; framed panels ride our Crane Truck, about 6–8 weeks — all delivered and unloaded by our crew. Made in West Kelowna, BC; we serve British Columbia and Alberta.

Is hog wire fence good for dogs, livestock or deck railing?
Yes — the rigid 6-gauge welded grid holds its shape against animals and impact without sagging like field fence. The same panels are used for dog runs, garden and livestock enclosures, and in code-height sizes as modern deck-railing infill.

How long do hog wire fence panels last?
Our 6-gauge hot-dipped galvanized panels last 40+ years. The dip-coating process provides superior corrosion protection compared to spray-on coatings. With a pressure treated or cedar frame, the entire panel assembly is built for decades of outdoor exposure.

What size hog wire panel do I need?
For privacy fencing, 6'x8' or 5'x8' panels are most popular. For deck railing, 3'x6' or 3'x8' panels fit standard railing heights. For garden borders, 3'x8' or 4'x8' panels work well. Measure your post spacing — panels should fit between posts with 1/4" clearance on each side.

What's the difference between hog wire and cattle panels?
Traditional cattle panels have graduated mesh openings — smaller at the bottom, wider at the top — designed to contain livestock. Hog wire panels have uniform mesh openings throughout. Many modern cattle panels, including ours, use uniform welded grids for a cleaner residential look, which makes them functionally interchangeable with hog wire for fencing and deck railing. The visual difference is minimal when both use the same mesh size.

Can I use hog wire panels for deck railing?
Yes — hog wire deck railing is one of the most popular uses. Use 3'x6' or 3'x8' panels with 4"x4" mesh for an open, modern look. Our pre-framed panels drop into standard deck railing posts. Check your local building code for mesh opening requirements — most jurisdictions allow 4"x4" mesh for deck railing infill.

Do you ship hog wire panels?
Yes — we deliver to nine provinces on our own trucks, and unload on your property: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. We do not currently deliver to Newfoundland and Labrador, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut or Yukon. Most orders build and deliver in 2–4 weeks in our standard regions and about 4–6 weeks elsewhere.

Framed vs unframed — which should I choose?
Choose framed if you want a ready-to-install solution — just set posts and hang panels. Choose unframed if you're building a custom frame, using our hog panel track system, or need to cut panels to non-standard sizes. Framed panels save 2-3 hours of labor per panel.
