Is welded wire fence bad for goats?
The warning is real and it is about thin welded ROLL — 14 gauge fencing where the welds pop the first time a goat stands on it. It does not describe a 4 to 6 gauge welded panel, which has roughly an order of magnitude more steel at every joint. Heavy welded panel has been the standard goat fence on working farms for decades.
Can I use cattle or hog panels for goats?
Yes — that is exactly what most goat keepers use. Choose 4" x 4" for standard stock.
What fencing works for goats with horns?
Use the 2" x 2" opening. A 4-inch opening is precisely the size a horned head goes into and does not come out of.
How tall should goat fencing be?
4 feet contains most sheep. Goats want 4 to 5 feet, and climbers want 5 feet with no horizontal rail on the outside to use as a step. Brace every corner — goats find the corner first.
