WARRANTY

STEEL & WIRE — BarrierBoss 40-Year Warranty on the core wire and finish. Dual-layer protection: Class 3 heavy-galvanized zinc applied AFTER welding (150 gsm — the heaviest standard class; competitors electro-galvanize with a fraction of the zinc) + heavy-duty fluidized dip-coat on top
CORTEN OPTIONS — Bare weathering steel; the natural rust patina is intentional and protective (no coating warranty applies)
TREATED LUMBER (Framed Options) — Kiln-Dried, Copper-Azole Pressure-Treated; Lifetime Limited Warranty against structural failure from fungal decay or termite damage — ground-contact and above-ground retention classes, when installed per applicable building codes. Field cuts must be sealed with two coats of a copper-based end-cut preservative (min. 1% copper) to maintain coverage
WESTERN RED CEDAR (Framed Options) — Kiln-Dried; naturally decay- and insect-resistant; 10-Year Limited Warranty against manufacturing defects and premature structural decay
FACTORY ASSEMBLY — 5-Year Limited Workmanship Warranty
CARE — We recommend maintaining exposed wood with Stain & Seal Experts oil-based penetrating stain (available from BarrierBoss) to extend its life and keep the finish looking new
INSTALLATION — Proper installation is the installer's responsibility: correct concrete mix, post-hole diameter and depth for your soil and frost line, and panels set square, plumb and level. Damage or premature wear from improper installation is not covered
MODIFICATIONS — Cutting, drilling or altering the steel exposes unprotected edges and voids the steel & coating warranty on the modified component. Need a custom size? We cut to order — ask us before you cut
Natural weathering, checking and minor warping of wood are normal characteristics — not defects

Description

Galloway Green Cattle Panels – Subtle Strength for Rural Canada

Why Green Cattle Fencing Works So Well

That rich, earthy green tone sits perfectly against prairie grass, boreal forest edges and foothills scrub. Underneath the colour is BarrierBoss’s proven 6-gauge hot-dipped galvanized steel core, finished with a thick, flexible dip-coat that stands up to freeze-thaw cycles, blowing snow and summer UV without chipping or fading. Whether you’re dividing pastures in Alberta, building corrals in Saskatchewan or creating secure runs in Ontario, these panels give you serious containment with a look that doesn’t shout “industrial”.

Pro Tip:

Run these panels along gravel roads or laneways with Western Red Cedar posts — the green is so close to natural cedar weathering that most passers-by never realize it’s steel until they touch it.

Built for Canadian Conditions, Designed to Blend In

Most livestock owners in Canada have learned the hard way: light-gauge panels bend, dip-coated finishes chip during spring thaw, and cheap welds fail when the first big animal leans on them. Galloway Green avoids all three problems.

The 6-gauge wire is hot-dip galvanized before the green dip-coat goes on, creating a double layer of corrosion protection that holds up through wet coastal winters on Vancouver Island, prairie chinooks, and Atlantic freeze-thaw. The fluidized dip-coat process lays down a heavier, more even finish than spray or powder methods — so scratches don’t turn into rust spots and the colour stays consistent year after year.

You can order panels plain (unframed) for maximum linear footage on long pasture divisions, or choose framed versions using kiln-dried pressure-treated lumber for clean lines or genuine Western Red Cedar when you want that classic Canadian rural look. Cedar-framed panels are especially popular for properties with road frontage or where the fence is visible from the house.

Available Sizes & Mesh Options

  • Panel sizes: 3'x6', 3'x8', 4'x6', 4'x8', 5'x6', 5'x8', 6'x8', 8'x8'
  • Mesh opening sizes: 1"x1", 2"x2", 2"x6", 4"x4"
  • Custom lengths and framing options (Western Red Cedar or KDBT lumber) available on request

Choose mesh based on your animals or purpose: tighter 1"x1" or 2"x2" for smaller livestock, lambs, goats or poultry safety; 2"x6" for mixed use; 4"x4" for mature cattle and horses where visibility and airflow matter more. The variety lets you match the panels exactly to your project — whether it's containing breeding stock, protecting gardens, or creating safe paddocks.

Installation is fast whether you’re setting posts yourself or bringing in a fencing crew. Premade framed panels drop into place quickly, and the weight of the 6-gauge steel gives excellent wind resistance without needing extra bracing in most conditions.

Because the steel is fully recyclable and the cedar is responsibly sourced, these panels fit well with the sustainability priorities many rural property owners have today.

Did You Know?

The thick dip-coat used on Galloway Green actually adds measurable rigidity to the panel — which is why these hold shape better than many thinner-coated competitors when large animals push against them.

Technical Specifications

Wire gauge by mesh size Our 2″ × 2″ and 4″ × 4″ mesh panels are built from 6-gauge (4.88 mm) hot-dipped galvanized steel. Our 1″ × 1″ mesh panels are built from 10-gauge wire (~3 mm bare, ~4 mm after dip-coating) — the heaviest wire commonly produced in a 1″ opening (industry standard for 1″ × 1″ is 12-gauge, so our 10-gauge runs heavier than the market). 6-gauge isn’t manufactured in 1″ × 1″ grids anywhere in the industry — a 6′ × 8′ panel at that weight would run 55–60 kg, outside practical fencing range.
Wire Gauge 6-gauge (4.88mm) heavy-duty welded steel

Mesh Pattern Graduated rectangular openings (cattle panel standard)

Galvanized After Welding — Why Our Welds Don't Rust

Every BarrierBoss panel is Class 3 heavy galvanized — 150 gsm of zinc, the heaviest standard wire galvanizing class — applied AFTER welding, then sealed in our heavy-duty dip-coat. Welds are the natural weak point of any welded panel: typical competitor panels are welded from pre-galvanized wire, which burns the zinc off every wire intersection and leaves hundreds of bare-steel points hiding under a thin powder coat. That's where they rust first. Our zinc goes on after the welds are made, so the entire panel — welds included — carries full protection. It's the reason we back the wire and finish for 40 years, nearly three times the coverage of leading hog wire competitors.
